The total imports and exports of Taizhou to BRICS countries from January to July amounted to 19.46 billion yuan ($2.67 billion), marking an increase of 18.4 percent compared to the previous year, according to recent statistics released by Taizhou Customs.

The city's exports alone reached 18.85 billion yuan, a year-on-year uptick of 20.9 percent. Among these exports, machinery and electrical products, footwear, and electric passenger vehicles stood out with export values of 11.71 billion yuan, 980 million yuan, and 280 million yuan, respectively. These figures represented a year-on-year uptick of 22.7 percent, 35.9 percent, and 18.9-fold, underscoring the significant growth in these sectors.

Taizhou mainly imported unworked copper and copper materials, metal ores and sands, and basic organic chemicals from BRICS countries during this period.

One company based in Taizhou - Zhejiang Sino-Africa International Trade Port Service Co Ltd - recently exported a batch of electric motors and accessories to South Africa. The company has successfully cultivated strong cooperative relationships with numerous clients in South Africa and has shown immense confidence in the emerging markets' prospects.

Chen Zhenqi, head of the trade management department at Zhejiang Sino-Africa International Trade Port Service Co Ltd, enthusiastically shared, "In the first seven months of this year, our company's exports to BRICS countries, including South Africa, Brazil, India, and Russia, reached 489 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.55 percent. Our range of exports is vast, encompassing various goods such as shoes, PVC foam boards, skylight panels for sunrooms, showers, air compressors, valves, and faucets."
